MA, LPC
While we live on this side of the fall, life will never be what it should. Nevertheless, God offers the opportunity to live with joy and thanksgiving. There is a time for everything, but sometimes we get stuck in one season. With God's help and others, we can move through the seasons as God has designed, experiencing both weeping and laughter, mourning and dancing.
Katie loves walking alongside others as they move through seasons of struggle and triumph. Sometimes God removes the struggle, other times He will provide tools for enduring. Counseling can help people step back to see the big picture of what God might be doing in their life. Counseling can also be a place for healing from the deep wounds that this world of sin can bring.
Katie worked in youth ministry for seven years and spent a year in Hungary partnered with a church working to build relationships with the Roma people, a group of people who are misunderstood and discriminated against. She also worked with 7-13 year old boys at Wedgwood Christian Services who struggle with anger, adjustment, and trauma.
Katie got her MA in Counseling from Grand Rapids Theological Seminary and her BS in Psychology from Grand Valley State University. She works with ages 13 and up, has experience with trauma, anxiety, depression, and grief, and is trained in EMDR.
