Shandra received a Master’s degree in counseling/education from Western Michigan University. She has a limited license in counseling through the state of Michigan. Shandra is also a Registered Nurse and has over 20 years of experience as a behavioral health nurse, working with adults, beginning at 18 years old. In addition to her experience working as a Behavioral Health Nurse, Shandra has work experience as a middle school guidance counselor.
Every season of life has its challenges. These challenges can trigger many emotions, particularly, the emotions of depression and anxiety, which can become overwhelming and negatively affect the client’s daily functioning. Shandra has a strong spiritual background based, primarily, in the Protestant faith. She is open to utilizing a client’s spiritual background to facilitate counseling as she believes the answers to many of life’s problems are found through exploring and incorporating the client’s spirituality into the counseling process. Shandra primarily utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy along with a solution focused approach.
Shandra has been married for 30 years and values the covenant of marriage and family. In her spare time, Shandra enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time with her family and close friends.
